Garage Door Spring Repairs in Perth, WA
The springs do the lifting; the motor only steers. When a spring goes, the door becomes its true weight — often 70 to 100 kg — and everything downstream of it starts failing too. We replace springs in matched pairs and rebalance the door afterwards, because a door that is left out of balance will eat its next motor.
Available across 120 Perth suburbs. How quickly we can get to you depends on which corridor a van is working — every suburb page carries its own honest window rather than one number pasted across the metro.

What the job covers
- Torsion springs and shaft
- Extension springs and safety cables
- Cable drums and lift cables
- Centre and end bearing plates
- Door rebalancing and travel limits
Signs you need it
- A visible gap in the coiled spring above the door
- A loud bang from the garage, then nothing works
- The door is suddenly far too heavy to lift
- The motor strains and gives up part-way
- The door slams down the last foot
Brands we carry parts for
B&D, Merlin, Centurion, Steel-Line, Grifco, Danmar, Gliderol, Automatic Technology— and unbranded and older doors too. These are other companies’ trademarks; we reference them as parts compatibility, not as any kind of dealer status. If something has to be ordered in, we will say so before starting rather than after.

Springs — what customers said
“Heard a bang overnight and the door would not lift in the morning. He replaced both springs rather than the one that broke and explained why — the other one was days behind it.”
“Spring went on a Sunday. Answered, quoted on the spot, and did not charge me a premium for the day, which I had braced for.”
“Third spring in six years on the same door. He was the first to look at why rather than just replacing them again — the door had been out of balance the whole time.”

Garage Door Spring Repairs — common questions
Can I replace a garage door spring myself?
No — and this is the one place on this site where we will not soften it. A torsion spring stores enough energy to break bones or kill, and it releases all of it at once if it is handled wrong. There are no instructions for it on this site on purpose. Diagnose the symptom, then call somebody with the winding bars and the training.
Only one spring broke. Why replace both?
Because they have done the same number of cycles. Replacing one leaves you with a new spring working against a fatigued one, an unbalanced door, and a second call-out within months. Matched pairs are cheaper over any real time frame.
How long should a spring last?
Springs are rated in cycles rather than years, so a household that opens the door six times a day wears them out far faster than one that opens it twice. Perth's UV and temperature swings shorten that further on west-facing doors.
Is it safe to use the door until you arrive?
No. Leave it where it is. Running the motor against a broken spring is how a straightforward spring job turns into a spring, cable, track and motor job.
